Experimental Studies of "Brx-64" on Toxic and Teratogenic Effects

Abstract
|

|
|
An water extract, Brx-64 from Leguminosae was given to mice, rabbits and rats orally, and examined the toxic and teratogenic effects. The results are summarized; 1. No essential toxicity was observed by giving 10 gm/kg dose of the Brx-64 to experimental animals; mice, rats and rabbits. LD50 was zero in 96 hours after the 10 gm/kg administration. 2. On tubular epithelium of kidney in rats slight degenerative changes were occurred by giving 4 gm/kg of Brx-64. 3. Long period of administration of Brx-64; to rats, 3 gm/kg for 30 days, and to rats and rabbits, 0.5 gm/kg 6 month resulted no toxic effect to the animals. 4. No teratogenic effect of the Brx-64 to mouse and rat was observed by giving it up to 1.2 gm/kg Meternal side showed also no reverse effect.
